What does this sentence mean? "I had all the othe sounds shut away"?

It sounds similar to "all the other sounds shut out." Like when you're in a place where there are many noises/sounds and suddenly something catches your attention, causing you to focus only on that, thus "shutting out," or no longer hearing any of the other sounds/noises.
